Qtum (Quantum) is an open source, decentralized project that aims to capitalize on the success of Bitcoin, while competing for the Decentralized Application (DAPP) and Smart Contract market.  The goal is to work with industry partners, and launch the first Value Transfer Protocol (VTP).  This will streamline daily business routines, and allow for easier adoption. Qtum aims to become the platform with Smart Contracts that execute as part of an Unspent Transaction Output (UTXO).

Qtum just released one of its most important implementations – Janus. Janus is a wrapper that allows developers to access an Ethereum-compatible environment on Qtum. The Janus wrapper will empower developers to easily port these apps over to Qtum and benefit significantly from reduced gas fees.

Upcoming Hardfork!

Mandatory update of Qtum Core wallets for the hard fork on July 31st, all users of the Qtum Core Wallet should update to version 22.1 as soon as possible.

The Qtum Mainnet hard fork will take place at block 2,080,512, approximately 8:40 pm GMT on July 31st (which may be on August 1st, depending on your time zone). The precise block height can me observed at https://qtum.info/
